The Cape Town Terminal has officially launched the deciduous fruit season in collaboration with industry role players. This includes The Fresh Produce Exporters Forum South Africa (FPEF), South Africa Table Grape Industry (SATI), HORTGRO and the Western Cape Government . The terminal has had various engagements with the industry to ensure preparedness and alignment for the 2022/23 season.
Transnet plays a vital role in the cold chain logistics to export quality fruit. The launch included an engagement with the Cape Town Terminal employees, with the purpose of providing
insight into the logistics cold chain and the important role Transnet plays in making the seaso a success. Ensuring that the seasonal fruit reaches the market in a good condition requires collaboration from the terminal and each key role player within the logistics chain – ultimately creating a heightened understanding of each participant.
The movement of seasonal fruit from farm to port and eventually to the market has a direct impact on the country’s economy thus the collaboration by Transnet and industry. The launch had educational benefits through knowledge-sharing by Transnet and the Industry in support of optimum business performance, as well as the customer compact agreement, especially during this season.

To close the launch employees received fresh fruit from the industry to taste.
